Julie Löwenberg - Jos Lion - Silo Ernst Lion (English version)

We originally wrote this article in Dutch, on the occasion of the laying of Stolpersteine (Stumbling Stones) on April 2025, on the sidewalk in front of the house Pontanusstraat 33 in Nijmegen, where they lived with their son Silo Ernst. These stones commemorate the persecutions to which the residents were exposed. The Dutch article was published November 21, 2024.

Julie and Jos were arrested Februari 23, 1943. After two nights they were escorted to Camp Westerbork. March 10, 1943 Julie and Jos were transported to Sobibor, where - after arrival - they immediately were killed. Their son Silo Ernst was taken from their home at November 17, 1942. He perished in the Labour Camp Bobrek May 13, 1943.
